[18:38] Ruby Lysios: http://monkeyyaya.blogspot.com
[18:38] Susie223 Chun: so I read the right story,haha
[18:39] Susie223 Chun: well ,the first mistake
[18:39] Susie223 Chun: "Coming from Vietnam"
[18:40] Susie223 Chun: I think you should use, but not . before the sentence
[18:40] Ding Atolia: I saw my child laughing at me… should be smiling at?
[18:41] Lucky Board: This prize wasn't claimed... so let's try a new magic letter.
[18:41] Lucky Board: Next Prize: breeding coop
[18:41] Lucky Board: Looking for a winner whose name begins with.... J.
[18:41] Susie223 Chun: So it should be .....in Taiwan, coming from.....
[18:41] Susie223 Chun: the green words are annoying...
[18:41] Ruby Lysios: can you revise the whole sentence for me, cause i don;t quite understand
[18:42] Ding Atolia: so these women, their husbands are not living?
[18:42] Susie223 Chun: there are more than 400,000 migrant brides in Taiwan. Coming from Vietnam, Indonesia, and China
[18:43] Ruby Lysios: ok, i know your meaning, thanks:)
[18:43] Susie223 Chun: I think it should be:there are more than 400,000 migrant brides in Taiwan, coming from Vietnam, Indonesia, and China
[18:43] Susie223 Chun: greT
[18:43] Susie223 Chun: great
[18:43] Ruby Lysios: i see !
[18:43] Ding Atolia: my question...
[18:44] Ruby Lysios: not at all
[18:44] Ding Atolia: but they come to TW alone or with kids?
[18:44] Ruby Lysios: but maybe some of there husband are dead, maybe some have them have divorce
[18:45] Jessie Passerine: I don't quite understand from the passage why they are sad..
[18:45] Ruby Lysios: they maried to taiwanese, and they born kids here
[18:45] Ding Atolia: oo
[18:46] Ding Atolia: so they have families
[18:46] Ruby Lysios: new family in taiwan
[18:46] Susie223 Chun 大喊: there are still many helpless migrant brides in the difficult situation that need more people concern such as the education of their child, domestic violence, and racial discrimination
[18:46] Ding Atolia: then why are they so sad and need more attention
[18:46] Ding Atolia: ?
[18:46] Susie223 Chun: concern problems such as...
[18:46] Ruby Lysios: ok take yu hua for example
[18:47] Ding Atolia: ok
[18:47] Ruby Lysios: he husband is dead and her child is a autistic child
[18:47] Susie223 Chun: We hope our society could be more fair and exists justice to deal with the issues;
[18:47] Susie223 Chun: exsist
[18:47] Susie223 Chun: cos there's "could" bedore
[18:47] Susie223 Chun: before
[18:48] Ding Atolia: what does autistic mean?
[18:48] Ding Atolia: i don't know the word, sorry
[18:48] Ruby Lysios: like a shy kid
[18:48] Ding Atolia: i c
[18:48] Ruby Lysios: he doesn't like to talk to anyoune
[18:48] Ruby Lysios: anyone
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: but I saw my child laughing at me
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: smiling at will be better
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: I think
[18:49] Ruby Lysios: it seems a smile
[18:49] Ruby Lysios: ok
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: We could help comfort their minds to support the migrant brides and wish to see there smiles every day
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: their smile
[18:49] Ruby Lysios: sorry
[18:49] Susie223 Chun: not thereXD
[18:50] Ruby Lysios: ha ha
[18:50] Ruby Lysios: thanks
[18:50] Susie223 Chun: ok,my task is finished
[18:50] Susie223 Chun: so...the reader?
[18:50] Ding Atolia: her computer is kind of stuck
[18:51] Lucky Board: This prize wasn't claimed... so let's try a new magic letter.
[18:51] Lucky Board: Next Prize: breeding coop
[18:51] Lucky Board: Looking for a winner whose name begins with.... B.
[18:51] Susie223 Chun: ok,let's wait
[18:51] Susie223 Chun: 30 minutes for each story
[18:51] Susie223 Chun: according to Shinn's plan
[18:52] Ruby Lysios: do you think anything strange or illogical in my story ?
[18:52] Ruby Lysios: yes
[18:52] Ruby Lysios: 8 miniutes left
[18:52] Susie223 Chun: Are the brides single?
[18:53] Susie223 Chun: I didn't figure out that before ding asked the question
[18:53] Ruby Lysios: they are not single because they married to taiwanese
[18:53] Jessie Passerine: my computer is still slow but I ;ll try
[18:53] Ding Atolia: generally, the ognization of your story is good
[18:53] Susie223 Chun: take it easy,J
[18:53] Ding Atolia: gereral-specific examples-general
[18:54] Susie223 Chun: I think it's an interesting story
[18:55] Ruby Lysios: there are still so many examples...but not all brides are not unhappy
[18:55] Ruby Lysios: some of them still have a happy life in taiwan and her husband is nice to her
[18:55] Jessie Passerine: after reading the whole story I'm impressed by the situation of migrants in taiwan
[18:55] Ruby Lysios: it depends
[18:55] Jessie Passerine: it's a good story
[18:56] Ruby Lysios: it seems they are minor group in taiwan
[18:56] Ruby Lysios: need more love and care
[18:56] Jessie Passerine: I think I'm learningmore from your narratation
[18:56] Ruby Lysios: because they leave their country to make a living in taiwan
[18:56] Ding Atolia: but i think the background is not that clear, basically, they seem not Taiwan bride, but bride who are left alone and come to Tw, but still suffer
[18:57] Ding Atolia: maybe you should work more on your background information
[18:57] Ruby Lysios: ok
[18:57] Susie223 Chun: just make it clearer
[18:57] Susie223 Chun: and will be better
[18:58] Ruby Lysios: should i say new brides in taiwan or foreign brides in taiwan?
[18:58] Ding Atolia: maybe foreign bride coming to Tw?
[18:58] Susie223 Chun: foreign isn't that proper,I think:)
[18:58] Ruby Lysios: because i think they are not foreign anymore
[18:58] Ding Atolia: but why are they brides, why not widows, haha]
[18:59] Ruby Lysios: because not all brides are widows
[18:59] Ding Atolia: widow sounds so rude
[18:59] Susie223 Chun: that's true
[18:59] Ding Atolia: may be you can say single mother coming to tw
[18:59] Jessie Passerine: what a want to know more are the examples about education of their child, domestic violenceand racial discrimination
[19:00] Ding Atolia: some of them have a family
[19:00] Ding Atolia: but most of them is still in suffering
[19:00] Susie223 Chun: time is up,guys
[19:00] Ruby Lysios: ok thanks
[19:00] Ding Atolia: yes, talk more about the present suffering they have, not just general
[19:01] Ding Atolia: ok, let's take turns
[19:01] Lucky Board: This prize wasn't claimed... so let's try a new magic letter.
[19:01] Lucky Board: Next Prize: breeding coop
[19:01] Lucky Board: Looking for a winner whose name begins with.... I.
[19:01] Ding Atolia: let's talk about my story
[19:01] Susie223 Chun: ok
[19:01] Ding Atolia: have you read that, all
[19:01] Ruby Lysios: yes
[19:01] Ding Atolia: who will be the editor this time?
[19:01] Susie223 Chun: so
[19:01] Jessie Passerine: who's the editor and who's the reader?
[19:02] Susie223 Chun: this time I'll be the reader
[19:02] Ruby Lysios: i could be the editor
[19:02] Ding Atolia: ok
[19:02] Susie223 Chun: ok
[19:02] Ding Atolia: J, youwill be og
[19:02] Jessie Passerine: ok
[19:03] Ding Atolia: i think my story is too personal
[19:04] Ding Atolia: sonny5258.blogspot.com
[19:04] Susie223 Chun: What is Jujube ?
[19:04] Ruby Lysios: i'm also curious about it

[19:07] Susie223 Chun: well, it's a good story,but it's not a news.:)
[19:07] Ruby Lysios: yes...
[19:07] Ding Atolia: yes
[19:08] Ding Atolia: i am aware of that, it's too personal
[19:08] Ruby Lysios: i don't know; will news should be formal?
[19:08] Ding Atolia: but i thought we could just write that
[19:08] Ruby Lysios: like your diary
[19:08] Susie223 Chun: actually,no...
[19:08] Ding Atolia: like the dogs in ncu campus
[19:08] Ruby Lysios: hum...
[19:09] Susie223 Chun: after all, you can't post this kind of stories on newspapers
[19:09] Susie223 Chun: magazines will be ok
[19:09] Ding Atolia: so we have to use a story to reveal some social aspects?
[19:10] Ruby Lysios: but you should report something, and people could not get the point what you try to say to us
[19:10] Susie223 Chun: yes
[19:10] Ding Atolia: good point, ok ,i see
[19:10] Susie223 Chun: not only social event
[19:10] Ruby Lysios: it's better to say the topic at the beginning
[19:10] Susie223 Chun: but it shouldn't be so persona;
[19:10] Susie223 Chun: l
[19:11] Lucky Board: This prize wasn't claimed... so let's try a new magic letter.
[19:11] Lucky Board: Next Prize: breeding coop
[19:11] Lucky Board: Looking for a winner whose name begins with.... J.
[19:11] Susie223 Chun: it's a dairy story,not a news story
[19:11] Ruby Lysios: i know, at the beginnig, you could say taiwanese are nice, haha
[19:11] Jessie Passerine: well though it's not a piece of news ,but it's a good story
[19:11] Susie223 Chun: yes
[19:11] Ruby Lysios: and try to say something support your idea
[19:11] Ding Atolia: haha, yes
[19:11] Ding Atolia: it could be like this
[19:12] Ding Atolia: the first time i came here, i find the people here so nice
[19:12] Ding Atolia: and then i use my story to prove it
[19:12] Ding Atolia: then i could talk about some culture difference
[19:12] Susie223 Chun: yeah
[19:12] Ding Atolia: how differently nice between tw and mainland peole
[19:12] Susie223 Chun: differences will be more attractive
[19:13] Jessie Passerine: hey it's ten now shouldn't we be going to CNN iReport Island now?
[19:13] Susie223 Chun: no

[19:13] Susie223 Chun: we have two hous here
[19:13] Susie223 Chun: OK~
[19:13] Ding Atolia: maybe what's the unique side of the two
[19:13] Susie223 Chun: yes

[19:14] Susie223 Chun: your friend will be more interested in the diferejces\
[19:14] Jessie Passerine: ok~ what i saw is for last time

[19:15] Ruby Lysios: i just find one punctuation error
[19:15] Susie223 Chun: ?
[19:15] Ruby Lysios: I felt an overwhelming stream of both coolness and warmth running over my body, the former for bringing a breeze in that burning weather, and the latter for bringing a comfort for my homesick heart.
[19:15] Ding Atolia: the first,
[19:16] Ding Atolia: should be:
[19:16] Ruby Lysios: I felt an overwhelming stream of both coolness and warmth running over my body :
[19:16] Ding Atolia: right?

[19:20] Susie223 Chun: well ,we still have ten minute for Ding
[19:20] Ruby Lysios: The dogs running or lying on campus; the little squirrel enjoying eating under a little pine tree; the helpful and friendly teachers and students… all these images distract me from the thought that I’m so far away from home.
[19:20] Ruby Lysios: maybe you could just use , , ,
[19:20] Ruby Lysios: because it's not a sentence
[19:21] Ding Atolia: you mean the; can be changed to ,
[19:21] Ding Atolia: right?
[19:21] Lucky Board: This prize wasn't claimed... so let's try a new magic letter.

Taiwan Touches My Heart

Taiwan Touches My Heart
Sonny Ding (981002902 丁潔瓊)
Having been in Taiwan for over two weeks, I begin to love this place as an old friend and to love these people here as a newcomer. As an exchange student from Nanjing University, I am overjoyed to know the fact that my university used to be named as the National Central University, where I’m now, with less than four mouths’ time left. Thus, I view the campus as an old and intimate friend; as for the people here, their overwhelming kindness and hospitality have enabled me, a newcomer, to better identify with this place.
I was mostly impressed by what happened this Saturday morning in front of the Office of the President, Taiwan. When we were about to leave the sightseeing place, it was noon. Hot and hungry, we wanted to arrive at any nearby restaurant as soon as possible. Just as we were wandering along the street, looking for an eating place, three mid-aged women sitting under a big tree saw us and one of them came towards us with a bag in her hand. Approaching us, she filled her hands with candies and Taiwan Jujube and then handed them to each of us. “You must be from the mainland for your accents are not local, so enjoy some of our sweet fruits in this hot weather.” Her words were simple, but her sincerity is profound. I felt an overwhelming stream of both coolness and warmth running over my body, the former for bringing a breeze in that burning weather, and the latter for bringing a comfort for my homesick heart.
This kind of stories never ceased to happen since the day I came to this beautiful island. The dogs running or lying on campus; the little squirrel enjoying eating under a little pine tree; the helpful and friendly teachers and students… all these images distract me from the thought that I’m so far away from home. All these stories actually tell me one point as the song goes that “Taiwan will touch your heart”. Yes, it touches my heart and I’m embracing it with my soul.
